Bad Breath

Halitosis, also known as Bad Breath, is a common issue.  Unfortunately, it can cause embarrassment and some people are not aware that they have it.  There are a few different causes of this so it is important to talk to your Oral Health Care Provider to help determine how to fix it.
If you don't brush and floss daily, you risk having bad breath.  Food particles left behind can decompose and cause an odor.  Some foods, such as onions and garlic, can create an odor that stays with you even after brushing.   If you have eliminated these foods and your home care is good, you  may have a medical condition such as gastritis, diabetes, or chronic sinusitis, that is causing bad breath.  If your dentist finds your mouth is healthy, they may refer you to your Primary Care Physician to check for medical issues causing halitosis.
Just remember, mouthwash is a cosmetic treatment and if you have to use it constantly to mask odor, you need to see your dentist.  Let us help you get your breath under control.  Call us today for a consultation.
